FAQs

I have a student who is non-verbal, how can I help them have a B Mitzvah?

Many non-verbal students have speaking device aids that can be programmed to speak specific text. You can pre-program their device to recite any aspect of their service.

How do I know if my student may need a modification?

There are several ways of doing this. One way is to speak with your student and their families to find out what learning styles work best for them. Another way is by adapting to their needs as you are tutoring them

If my student is using transliteration to read their Torah portion, what do they read from during their B Mitzvah?

They should absolutely use the transliteration on the day of their B Mitzvah! One option is to have them read from their transliteration sheet on the side while another person follows along from the Torah. Another option is to place the transliteration page into the Torah and have your student read from there.
